Ordinary Alleluias

Ckiudforest

while humanity seeks

religious experience

exotic and rare

around us life

articulates

ecstatic prayer

blind to affirmation of divinity

in the evening sun's amen

last light

deaf to resplendent

alleluias

in ordinary things that happen

Ruby morning
we overlook

magenta hosannas

each morning

sun rises again

we mutter and curse

the sacrament of rain

those tears of

the gods shed

to wash away our pain

Cedar in rain

eyes narrowed

we search for pillars of fire

and clouds in the sky

illiterate to prophecy

lightning writes before our eyes

Chain lightning

spider web

unnoticed

spider humbly spins

her rosary

dew drops

prayer beads

we don't see

morning wind

whispers softly of

comfort and grace

in intercession

willow's branches

sway and raise

river sings hymns

and

stones shout praise!

Amacalola Falls

doe and fawn

wide eyed

lift ears in meadow sanctuary

two deer

come from the fringes to

commune with

the blessed bees

who daily journey

in spiraled labyrinths

of flight

returning to rest

in their honeyed temple

each night

all of creation wiser and

less weary than

we humans with

uncorrected

spiritual myopia
